Hong Kong at night...

We have arrived back into Hong Kong after spending two days shopping and visiting in Shenzhen. Geoff, Rob and I took the opportunity to visit the Hong Kong Harbour at night and I did some photo shooting of the nightly community the city has to offer...

Living in Shenzhen

Well Shenzhen city has lots to offer for those who never been to China. It is a major and most busiest export city in China because all the goods and products that are produced in China make their way down and eventually over the border into Hong Kong and then shipped via international waters. Any goods you can think of can be found in Shenzhen. We found watches, suits, ties, underwear ( don't ask), socks, golf clubs, pearls ( yes pearls your vool!), memory sticks, golf shirts, jeans, shirts, handcrafts, and the most important thing for me is North Face jackets. The prices are so low that we nearly got a bargin that we all know that we cannot beat in Canada or the rest of the world. My favorite gift of all of them are two northface jackets that I like wearing when I am outside in the woods...

Not to mention my new calaway golf clubs that I have been swinging with at the local driving range near my house. Indeed a good shopping trip.

The one thing I wished I wanted was new bigger lenses for my digital camera because I am getting tired of the basic lens that comes with the package.

Here some more pictures...

Shenzhen, here we come...

After waking up early in the morning at the crack of dawn, yes I have to confirm that my two Canada friends are fighting jet lag and I was the victim of their early up and "aboot" wake up calls. We all gathered up our clothes, belongings, hotel gifts ( yes the toothbrush and the toliet mints from the bathroom) and we headed out the 250 dollar a night hotel room to take a ferry across the Hong Kong Harbour to take a train north into China to a export city called Shenzhen.

Geoff's Personal Moment...

Well now that I have entered Hong Kong after my idoitatical adventures telling everyone that I work for the UN and they MUST let me on the airplane because of a SERIOUS UN conference that I am going to. Yes I was wearing blue jeans, converse shoes, t-shirt and wearing my hair out like Chad Kroeger from Nickleback. No wonder it is an amusement that the women at the Cathy Pacific counter were working hard to let this quote on quote "UN dipomat" who works at the international school in Hanoi looking like a rock star from Hanna, Alberta to get him on the airplane 10 minutes before it leaves.

Anyway, getting straight to the blog purpose, I have to decicate this blog to my little brother friend Geoff because he was obsess with my olympus digital camera and decided to make an world class, spectatular, breath taking, exciting, never seen before photograph that bound to leave people with their wet mouths full of saliva drolling on their monitors.... are you ready?.... here we go:

Got to love his thinking ehh?

In transit to Hong Kong...

Well safely arrived in Hong Kong from my hectic lighting speed airplane ride from Hanoi. I was fortunate and very lucky to catch my flight as I was very late getting to the airport. When I arrived at Noi Boi, they infomed me that the gate was closed and they were not checking in anymore people into the plane. I was shocked but also upset at myself because of being late so I had to think how I was going to make the plane trip. I told them that I work for the United Nations and it was very important that I make this flight because it was a matter of life or death. The Cathy Pacific Airlines staff was very helpful and allowed me to check in and make a run for the gate. I ran like hell through the checkin counter, immigration, security and down the plane ramp into the aircraft. When I arrived, I shoutedin Vietnamese "sorry and I was from the countryside" and the airline staff laughed hard at me... Perhaps this was the onboard entertainment everyone is looking for. I quick rushed over to my seat as I was the last one to be seated. I said hi and of course sorry for the twentiest time and buckled my seatbelt and closed my eyes.

One hour and a half later, going through strong turbulence and winds this was the most fastest flight I ever been on in my life. It was suppose to take 2 hours but it was reduced to1:30 hours which surprised a few people on the flight. Oh well!! It was nice to arrive early.

Took the skytrain to Hong Kong side and the mini airport bus and arrived at the Renaissance Harbour View Hotel to meet my canadain friends who arrived earlier in the day. Went straight to sleep after a light scotch on the rocks.

Alternative to Viagra...

Belgrade - A Serbian man needed emergency surgery after sticking a pencil inside his penis to keep it stiff during sex.

Zeljko Tupic, from Belgrade, told doctors he had experienced erectile difficulties in the past.

So as he prepared for a night with his new lover, he decided to insert a thin pencil into his penis.

Tupic had to cut his sex session short when the pencil shifted and became lodged in his bladder, forcing him to call an ambulance, the Kurir newspaper reported.

Doctor Aleksandar Milosevic from Belgrade's Zvezdara hospital, who succesfully removed the pencil, said: "At first the patient did not tell us what really happened, but x-rays proved the truth.

"Tupic said he had no idea there were things like Viagra available but agreed that in future he will try pills before he takes any more chances with pencils."

Happy Valentine day...

Wish everyone a safe and happy Valentine's day. I hope all my friends and family were showered with hearts, flowers and chocolates.

As Shakespeare said:
Doubt thou the stars are fire;
Doubt that the sun doth move;
Doubt truth to be a liar;
But never doubt I love.
Love Scotty

Weekend Numbers...

Well this previous weekend was interesting as many things happened throughout... The one thing that caught my attention was the numbers of occurrences:
  1. Final score of the SuperbowlXL: Pittsburgh 21, Seahawks 10. Fair enough...
  2. Number of French toast pieces Scotty ate while watching the Superbowl: 2.
  3. Number of bacon pieces Scotty ate while watching the Superbowl: 7.
  4. Number of glasses of orange juice drank while watching the Superbowl: 5.
  5. Number of times of Tennis Golden moments shown during the superbowl: 33 times. I was not so lucky and was forced to watch the Asian feed edition of the superbowl. After the fifth time it became boring to watch Boris Becker beat who ever for the 33rd time in 1970. What a great golden moment!
  6. Number of female breasts shown during the superbowl: 0 times. Finally the American media is doing something right!
  7. Number of road fatalities in Hanoi for the first, second and third day of New Year: 149. We shall drink to our ancestors and our family and our friends and..."Oh Shit" a bus!!!
  8. Number of people visited the Huong Pagoda in North Vietnam in one day: 10,000. A mini superbowl full of people practicing their Buddhism rituals on a mountain ehh?
  9. Number of Scotty's fish died due to "ICK" white spot bacteria over the weekend: 3.
And finally the most important and last one that might offend visitors to this website:
  1. Number of times Scotty had to go to the bathroom due to food poisoning suffering over the weekend (Saturday and Sunday):17 times. No comment!!

The Huong Pagoda

Minh Nguyet and I decided to visit one of the most famous and not to mention one of the most popular Pagoda 70 KM north of Hanoi. We took my Nouvo Motorbike with Helmets of course and made the venture there and back in one day.

The Huong (Perfume) Pagoda is known throughout the country with Vietnamese Tourists from all over to perform their New Year rituals. To get to the landmark, you are required to take a row boat (metal...don't ask) from the place where you park your motorbike. The rowing trip can take one hour so there are lots of photo opportunies and scenery that North Vietnam has to offer.

A Typical boat ferrying many people from the Pagoda to the main land. Note: It's Sinking!

Our rower was named Hue and she was built like a Viking because we were passing other boats!

A nice angled shot taken by Minh Nguyet...

Scotty give Ms. Hue a break and takes over the healm...

Smoke anyone?

The Huong Pagoda... Part 2

Minh Nguyet hides behind a stone fence.

Pretty nice ehh?

Did someone wake up the Lion from it's sleep?

The main pagoda at the top of the mountain resembles the cave like tavern...

Many Vietnamese people saying their prayers to the Budda...

The main temple at the base of the mountain...

Do I need to say Sunshine Village comes to Vietnam?

The main gate to the Pagota mountain...
